Sharia’s Brutal Justice

Stoning, Amputation, and the Religion of Mercy

Islamic apologists often call Islam a “religion of mercy.” But behind the PR mask lies a justice system that, when fully enforced, cuts off hands, flogs backs, and buries people in the ground to be stoned to death.

This isn’t fringe behavior. This is Sharia law — the legal system drawn from the Qur’an, Hadith, and classical Islamic jurisprudence. And it’s still practiced or aspired to in dozens of Muslim-majority countries.

When the law of God includes amputation for theft and stoning for sex, it’s time to stop calling it divine. It’s time to call it what it is: barbaric.

⚖️ What Is Sharia?

Sharia (Arabic: “the path”) is the full body of Islamic law. It governs not just spiritual life but criminal justice, civil rights, contracts, dress codes, marriage, speech, sex, and belief.

And when it comes to punishment, Sharia doesn’t hold back.

✋ Amputation for Theft

The Qur’an says it plainly:

“[As to] the thief, male or female, cut off their hands: a punishment by way of example, from Allah.”
Qur’an 5:38

There’s no metaphor here. No room for interpretation. The punishment for stealing — no matter the reason, no matter the desperation — is physical mutilation.

  • Not a fine

  • Not community service

  • Not even jail

Just a blade. And your hand.

This is state-sanctioned disfigurement — permanent, disproportionate, and utterly inhumane.

🪨 Stoning for Adultery

While the Qur’an prescribes lashes for adultery, the Hadith and Islamic jurisprudence override it with something more brutal: death by stoning.

“If a man and woman commit illegal sexual intercourse, stone them to death.”
Sahih Muslim 1690

The Prophet said: “Stone to death whoever is guilty of zina (adultery), whether they are married or not.”
Ibn Majah 2553

This means:

  • **Dig a hole.

  • Bury the person waist-deep.

  • Let a crowd throw rocks until the skull caves in.**

This is not symbolic. It’s real blood, real bones, real death — in the name of religion.

🌍 Where Is This Still Practiced?

These punishments aren’t ancient history — they’re enforced today or embedded in legal codes in:

  • Iran

  • Saudi Arabia

  • Somalia

  • Sudan

  • Nigeria (Sharia states)

  • Mauritania

  • Afghanistan (under Taliban rule)

  • Yemen

  • Brunei

Even in countries where they’re not currently enforced, Islamists campaign to bring them back — citing Sharia as the gold standard of divine justice.

😵 Apologist Excuses Don't Hold

Islamic apologists try to soften the horror:

  • “It’s rarely implemented.”

  • “There are strict conditions.”

  • “It’s meant as a deterrent.”

  • “The West has its own problems.”

Let’s be clear:

  • If a law exists, it can be enforced.

  • If a god commands it, it can be revived.

  • If you excuse cruelty because it’s “rare,” you’re still defending cruelty.

There is no moral high ground in “only sometimes cutting people’s hands off.”

❌ You Can’t Sanitize This

You can dress it up in Arabic calligraphy, pretend it's misunderstood, or bury it under centuries of commentary.

But at the end of the day, Sharia prescribes torture.

It’s not merciful. It’s not divine.
It’s the legalized destruction of the human body — done in the name of obedience to God.

🎯 Final Word

A religion that cuts off hands and stones people to death does not belong in the modern world. It belongs in the dustbin of history.

Islamic law isn’t just outdated — it’s violent by design.

No matter how much you dress it up with spirituality, the moment you accept stoning and mutilation as divine justice, you have left civilization behind.
